Zharnel Hughes breaks Christie's 100m record, wins 4x100m relay bronze

Last year, Zharnel Hughes, a four-time European champion, played a crucial role in securing the world 4x100m relay bronze for Great Britain. Recently, Hughes accomplished a remarkable feat by breaking Linford Christie's long-standing British 100m record of 9.87 seconds.
Prior to his race in New York, the 27-year-old athlete had written down his dream of achieving a time of 9.83 seconds, and to his astonishment, he accomplished exactly that.
Hughes, the reigning European 200m champion, shaved off 0.04 seconds from the previous record, which Christie had set at the 1993 World Championships. His new record not only stands as the fastest time in the world this year but also ranks as the second-fastest ever by a European athlete.
The only European athlete to have run faster is Italy's Marcell Jacobs, who clocked 9.80 seconds to secure Olympic gold in Tokyo in 2021.
Despite initially appearing in disbelief at his achievement, Hughes expressed his gratitude and belief in the power of manifestation. He spoke about waking up with a dream and a specific time in mind, which became a reality when he saw the clock displaying 9.83 seconds.
Hughes's reaction mirrored his surprise, stating, "What just happened there?" He went on to emphasize the authenticity of manifestation and later shared a photo of his written prediction, reinforcing the power of faith in his extraordinary accomplishment.
