Some Lagos residents besieged Murtala Mohammed International Airport to welcome members of Team Nigeria after an impressive performance at the recently concluded Paralympic Games in France.
The Nigerian contingent, comprising 24 athletes, returned to the country on Sunday and Monday in three batches.
The first batch, which included some of the gold medal-winning Para-Powerlifters, landed at 11 p.m., while the second batch, consisting mainly of Para Table Tennis players, arrived at 8 a.m. on Monday.
The final batch, which included the Para-Athletics team, arrived at noon on Monday.
The returning Paralympians were full of praise for the Federal Ministry of Sports Development (FMSD) Lagos Liaison Officer, Nkana Mbora, for her supportive role in mobilizing Nigerians who welcomed the athletes.
Nigeria won a total of 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals, placing 40th in the overall medals standings.
