Jonas Vingegaard of Jumbo-Visma clinched his second Tour de France title, while the final stage in Paris saw Jordi Meeus of Bora-hansgrohe surprise everyone with a sprint win, denying Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) his fifth victory.
The stage began with a leisurely roll-out from the outskirts of Paris, and the riders later arrived at the velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, which will host the indoor cycling events of the 2024 Olympics.
In the race, King of the Mountains Giulio Ciccone secured one final point atop the only categorized climb of the day, with his teammate Mads Pedersen celebrating his victory in the fight for the mountains classification.
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) made a solo attack with 48km to go, but it was soon neutralized by the sprint teams preparing for the final laps in Paris.
In the final sprint, Jordi Meeus emerged as the surprise winner, beating Jasper Philipsen in a photo finish. Meeus, who got the nod over Sam Bennett for the Tour, claimed his biggest career victory on this prestigious occasion.
Jonas Vingegaard finished the Tour in the yellow jersey, securing his second Tour de France title. Tadej Pogacar won the young rider competition for the fourth consecutive Tour.
Vingegaard expressed his gratitude to the spectators and the Danish people and hoped to return next year to compete for a third win.
