At the closing hours of the maiden South West Games, Team Lagos dominated the podium, winning a total of 14 gold medals to top the medal table.
The closing ceremony of the inaugural 2025 Games was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.
Team Lagos won 14 gold, five silver, and two bronze medals to clinch first place, ahead of Ogun State in second place with 10 gold medals, while Ondo State placed third with three gold medals.
U-18 athletes from six states in the region battled for honors in seven sports: football, basketball, archery, table tennis, athletics, boxing, and volleyball.
Team Lagos capped their performances with a 5-2 victory over Ekiti in a thrilling men’s football final on the last day of the competition.
The Games, which were held from March 25 to 28, 2025, celebrated sporting excellence, fostered regional cohesion, showcased rich cultural heritage, and provided a platform for emerging talents to demonstrate their skills.
