Ryan Crouser, an Olympic and global champion in the shot put, has beaten his own record.
Prior to achieving the new record with a throw of 23.56 metres, Crouser threw 23.23 metres and 23.31 metres during a track and field competition in Los Angeles.
In Eugene in 2021, a 30-year-old American broke the previous record with a time of 23.37 metres.
In addition to winning his first World Championship last year, Crouser also won the Olympic championships in 2016 and 2020.
On Saturday at the Los Angeles competition, he had throws of 23.23 metres, 23.31 metres, 22.94 metres, 23.56 metres, 22.80 metres, and 22.86 metres in what World Athletics dubbed the finest shot put sequence ever.
