Team Nigeria's struggles in athletics persist as disappointing performances left the 4x100m relay teams in disarray at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games.
The men’s 4×100m quartet of Favour Ashe, Kanyinsola Ajayi, Alaba Akintola, and Usheoritse Itsekiri finished 7th in heat 1.
Despite running their season's best time of 38.20 seconds, it was not enough to secure a place in the next round.
Team USA won the race with a time of 37.47 seconds, while South Africa finished second with a time of 37.94 seconds.
The women’s 4×100m team also failed to reach the final.
The quartet of Justina Eyakpobeyan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Tima Godbless finished 6th in heat 2, running a season's best time of 42.70 seconds.
