Nigeria's Queen of the Track, Oluwatobiloba Amusan, has been cleared of anti-doping violations by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding allegations made by World Athletics (WA).
The judgment was a significant ruling for Amusan's participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics, as CAS dismissed appeals by World Athletics (WA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against Amusan.
The final ruling has effectively cleared Amusan to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she hopes to return home with a medal.
The decision, announced on June 28, 2024, upholds an earlier verdict by the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal (WADT), which found Amusan not guilty of any anti-doping rule violations.
The case against Amusan revolved around allegations that she had committed three whereabouts failures within a 12-month period, which would have constituted a violation of Rule 2.4 of the WA Anti-Doping Rules. Both WA and WADA had sought a two-year period of ineligibility for the athlete.
However, following a hearing on January 19, 2024, the CAS panel unanimously concluded that while Amusan had committed two filing failures, there was insufficient evidence to confirm a third alleged missed test.
As a result, the panel determined that Amusan had not committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).
This ruling marks the conclusion of a legal process that began with the WADT's initial decision on August 17, 2023.
