Norwegian decathlon leaders Sander Skotheim and Markus Rooth secure strong start

After the first day of the decathlon, Norwegian athletes Sander Skotheim and Markus Rooth are leading the pack. Rooth had a strong start in the morning events, taking the lead after the 100m, long jump, and shot put.
However, Skotheim made a comeback in the evening, excelling in the high jump with a clearance of 2.15m compared to Rooth's personal best of 2.03m.
In the 400m, Skotheim clocked an impressive time of 47.69, while Rooth finished in 49.05. Skotheim ended the day with 4457 points, ahead of Rooth's 4364 points. Belgium's Jente Hauttekeete currently holds the bronze position with 4259 points.
In the men's 200m, Blessing Afrifah of Israel, the World U20 champion, secured an easy victory in heat 3 with a wind-assisted time of 20.65 seconds (+2.3m/s). Raphael Bouju, who won silver in the men's 100m, also impressed with a win in heat 1, finishing in 20.83 seconds (+0.4m/s).
Among the women, Nikola Horowska of Poland was the fastest qualifier in the 200m heats, winning heat 1 with a wind-assisted time of 22.99 seconds (+2.4m/s). Defending champion Dalia Kaddari of Italy performed well in heat 3, finishing in 22.30 seconds (+2.0m/s).
