Nigeria's newly crowned African champion, Justina Tiana Eyakpobeyan, has reiterated her dream of achieving the highest standards in the sport with her sights set on an Olympic podium finish.
Recall that Eyakpobeyan, alongside Tima Godbless, Olayinka Olajide, and Tobi Amusan, clinched the gold medal at the recently concluded African Athletics Championship in Douala, Cameroon.
Eyakpobeyan said, "Having competed with the world's best athletes at the last World Athletics Championship in Budapest and the World Relays in the Bahamas this year, my confidence level has increased."
"Very soon, I will stand on the Olympic Games podium to celebrate my gold medal. That is my dream, and it will surely come true," she told a Guardian correspondent.
Eyakpobeyan came into the spotlight at the U-18 and U-20 trials in Kaduna in 2023, where she won the 100m and 200m titles.
