The Aquatic Federation of Nigeria, under the leadership of Mrs. Chinonye Daphey Aliyu, congratulates Ebingha Collins Obi on his outstanding performance at the South Region Winter Championship, which took place from March 29 to 30, 2025, in Saint Raphael, France.
Ebingha surpassed his personal bests in the 50m freestyle (23.20), 100m freestyle (51.42), 50m butterfly (24.44), and 100m butterfly (54.80) to finish first in the 100m freestyle with a time of 50.80, second in the 50m butterfly with a time of 24.41, second in the 100m butterfly with a time of 55.06, and third in the 50m freestyle with a time of 23.46.
Ebingha, whose scholarship program began in September 2023 at the World Aquatics High Performance Training Programme Centre in Antibes, France, has shown great promise and is a perfect reflection of the structure put in place by the Federation in the development of raw talents and getting the country to podium positions in international competitions.
The President of the Federation, Chinonye Daphey Aliyu, commended the athlete for making Nigeria proud and praised the Federation for ensuring the team’s optimal performance on the international stage.
“Ebingha Collins Obi has once again showcased resilience and talent. His success is an indication of hard work and the strategic leadership of the Federation. We are proud of him and remain committed to supporting his journey to greater heights,” she said.
“This is the beginning of more successes to come,” she concluded.
