The two presidents of the national sports federations were present in Paris to witness the ceremonies. Francis Obirh of the Nigeria Badminton Federation and Chief Dafney Chinonye Aliyu of the Nigeria Aquatic Federation said the show was not only fantastic but also very refreshing.
"A lot of energy and creativity went into the elaborate show. Paris is famed for its art, and I am not surprised they drew on history to create the spectacle on display," noted Aliyu.
For Obirh, the free-flowing ceremonial event reflects the French long history, from the medieval period through the revolution that led to the modern era.
Contrary to predictions that Nigeria might not fly its flag among the 206 countries, the green, white, and green flag was proudly displayed.
"The NOC president, Engr. Habu Gumel, had consistently assured us that Nigeria had no problems.
"We are participating as we no longer have issues with WADA.
"We have met the conditions required by the World Anti-Doping Agency."
To effectively cover the Paris Olympic Games, one must be internet savvy.

Even navigating the city, where some places might be very close, often requires online facilitation.
"This is truly the electronic Games."
