The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) unveiled its roster on Tuesday, consisting of 11 male and 15 female athletes who will be representing the nation in the upcoming World Championships taking place from August 19 to 27 in Budapest, Hungary.
Among the standout athletes featured on the list is Ese Brume, who clinched a silver medal in last year's championships. Brume is set to compete in the long jump event, accompanied by Ruth Usoro.
Notable female athletes like Sade Olatoye in the Hammer throw and Chioma Onyekwere in the Discus throw are also prominent figures on the AFN's selection.
In the men's 100m and 4x100m relay races, a strong lineup includes national champion Usheoritshe Itshekiri, along with Favour Ashe, Seye Ogunlewe, Alaba Akintola, Fakorede Adekalu, and Anunagba Karlington, all set to make their mark in these categories.
On the women's side, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili, Faith Okwose, Justina Eyakpobeyan, and Success Umukoro are ready to compete in the 100m and 4x100m relay event.
It's worth noting that the Athletics Integrity Unit provisionally suspended Amusan due to her failure to undergo three drug tests this season, a development that occurred just one month before the commencement of the championships.
