As states prepare for the forthcoming National Youth Games, to be hosted by Delta State, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the games, Solomon Ogba, has appealed to the leaders of state contingents to educate their young athletes on the need to maintain orderliness during the games.
The Chairman made the appeal during an LOC meeting to appraise the work plan of the subcommittees established for the successful organization of the youth games, scheduled to take place from Sept. 9 to 19.
Chief Ogba said that due to the high cost of maintaining and upgrading the facilities to be used for the games, it is essential that the young athletes coming for the event are encouraged to be disciplined and maintain orderliness and proper behavior during their stay at hostel facilities, which are mostly located within government and privately owned educational institutions.
The former Delta State Commissioner for Sports mentioned that the local organizing committee is working around the clock to host youth games that will showcase the ongoing transformation in Delta State under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whose love for sports is unmatched.
Ogba thanked the heads of the subcommittees for their tireless efforts in ensuring that the workforce is trained to manage the systems and processes needed to make Delta State successful in hosting the athletes and officials attending the youth games.
During the LOC meeting, the Chairmen of the subcommittees provided comprehensive reports on their plans of action, which will culminate in the overall success of the 8th edition of the National Youth Games.
