Judd Trump and Mark Allen had a successful day at the Wuhan Open, both winning 5-2 and advancing to the quarter-finals. Trump will face either Guodong Xiao or Tom Ford, while Allen will compete against Liam Highfield or Ali Carter in the next round.
Judd Trump showcased his skill with a notable 5-2 victory over Barry Hawkins at the Wuhan Open, securing his spot in the quarter-finals. Hawkins made a strong start, taking advantage of a missed red by Trump, and orchestrated a break of 109, demonstrating effective red-blue combinations.
Trump responded impressively, equalizing the score with a break of 76 after Hawkins missed a shot from the baulk line. He then took the lead for the first time with a clearance of 59, seizing an opportunity after a Hawkins foul. However, Hawkins fought back with a remarkable total of 125 and a break of 84, leveling the score at the interval.
Trump took control from that point onwards, showcasing superb snooker skills. He executed a flawless red-pink combination, making a 97 clearance. Following a cautious safety battle, Trump neared victory, reaching the last frame after potting the yellow from the D.
His victory was sealed with his 27th century of the season, securing a spot in the quarter-finals where he will face either Guodong Xiao or Tom Ford.
