Jemma Reekie of Great Britain showcased her determination to secure her first global medal by dominating the women's 800m semi-final at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
The 25-year-old Scot strategically paced herself to victory in 1 minute 58.28 seconds, boosting her confidence ahead of the medal race scheduled for Sunday.
Expressing her competitive spirit, Reekie stated, "The final will be very tough, but I want [the other athletes] to know that if they are coming to win on my track, they are going to have to work hard!"
Reekie's semi-final triumph positioned her as a top contender for the gold, as she outpaced two expected medal rivals, including Ethiopia's world leader Habitam Alemu and 2022 world indoor bronze medallist Halimah Nakaayi.
The home favorite's performance solidified her status as a formidable force in the competition, and she looks forward to a fast-paced final, expressing her intent to discuss strategy with coaches Jon Bigg and Sally Gunnell.
