Gabby Thomas wins US 200m race, sets record, prevents Richardson's sprint double

Gabby Thomas delivered an exceptional performance at the US championships in Oregon, winning the women's 200m race with a time of 21.60 seconds. This marked the sixth fastest time in history and the fastest time of the year in the event.
Thomas narrowly edged out Sha'Carri Richardson, preventing her from achieving a sprint double after her victory in the 100m.
Expressing her determination and hunger for success, the 26-year-old athlete emphasized her strong desire to win. In the semi-finals, she had already set the fastest time of the year with a remarkable 21.86 seconds.
However, world champion Shericka Jackson ran 21.71 at the Jamaican championships, pushing Thomas to respond even further in the final.
With her victory, Thomas secured her place at the upcoming World Championships in Budapest. She looks forward to continuing her rivalry with Richardson and Jackson, acknowledging the fierce competition between them.
