Egyptian Mazen Gamal targets top prize as Lagos International Squash Classics serves off

On Tuesday, Egyptian squash sensation Mazen Gamal said he would aim to win the Lagos International Squash Classics. Gamal, in an interview with ASN, said that the tournament was for him to lose.
"I have prepared well for this tournament, and I have no other business than to win it."
"I will make my intention known as soon as I play my first match, which is tomorrow."
"I know it is a long way for me, but I am confident that I can do it," he said.
Gamal will be competing alongside other squash players in the men's category, such as Curtis Malik (England), Ziad Ibrahim (Egypt), Laszlo Godde (France), Perry Mailk (England), Mazen Gamal (Egypt), Laouenan Loaec (France), and Martin Svec (Czech).
After five years, the Lagos Squash Classics will serve off in Lagos, with 19 Nigerian players set to compete at Teslim Balogun Stadium.
The Lagos Squash Classics are back in action for the first time since 2018.
Egypt's Karim El Hammamy won the year's trophy and is the defending champion of the tournament.
Other Nigerians in the tournament in the men's category are Babatunde Ajagbe, Ayomide Michael, Adegoke Onaopemipo, Femi Shedara, Kehinde Temitope, Gabriel Olufunmilayo, and Faruq Sulaimon. They will compete against the European players for the $12,000 prize money in the men’s category.
In the women’s category, Titlayo Akinleye, Taiwo Ebifemi, Isaac Blessing, Modupe Faniyi, Mistura Durosinlorun, Busayo Olatunji, Rofiat Abdulazeez, Udeme James, Awawu Balogun, Favour Utukpe, Delight Temple, and Idowu Ogunyemi will also compete for honours with a $6,000 cash prize.
