Posted : 01 July 2023
At the Diamond League event in Lausanne, British athletes Keely Hodgkinson and Daryll Neita showcased their talent with impressive second-place finishes, while Marie-Josee Ta Lou and Jakob Ingebrigtsen continued to dominate their respective events.

Ta Lou from Ivory Coast secured her third consecutive victory in the women's 100m, crossing the finish line in 10.88 seconds, with Neita not far behind at 11.07 seconds.

In the women's 800m, Mary Moraa emerged victorious with a time of 1 minute 57.43 seconds, handing Hodgkinson her first defeat this year as she finished with a time of 1 minute 58.37 seconds. Moving on to the men's 1500m, Ingebrigtsen, the Olympic champion, claimed yet another triumph with a remarkable time of 3 minutes 28.72 seconds. Meanwhile, GB's Josh Kerr secured a respectable third-place finish.

Ingebrigtsen's dominance in the 1500m discipline has been unparalleled this year, having won all three races thus far and even setting a European men's record in Oslo.

He continued his impressive form in Lausanne, setting another meeting record, while Lamecha Girma from Ethiopia finished second with a time of 3 minutes 29.51 seconds. Kerr achieved a season's best time of 3 minutes 29.64 seconds, and his teammate Elliot Giles secured fourth place with a personal best of 3 minutes 31.56 seconds.

Hodgkinson, who recently set a British record of 1 minute 55.77 seconds in Paris, faced defeat for the first time this year as Moraa, the reigning Diamond League champion, triumphed in the women's 800m race.

The 21-year-old British athlete, an Olympic and world silver medallist, finished second, and her teammate Jemma Reekie claimed fifth place with a time of 1 minute 59.32 seconds. In the women's pole vault event, USA's Katie Moon emerged victorious by clearing 4.82m, followed by Finland's Wilma Murto at 4.77m, while GB's Holly Bradshaw secured fifth place with a height of 4.51m.
