Allyson Felix, Olympic champion, is advocating for better maternity care for black women following the death of her teammate Tori Bowie during childbirth.
Felix highlights the alarming trend of complications and mortality among black women in childbirth. She shares her own experience of giving birth prematurely due to pre-eclampsia and expresses uncertainty about her survival.
Another teammate, Tianna Madison, also faced life-threatening complications during childbirth.
Felix emphasizes the urgent need to address the black maternal health crisis, citing data showing significantly higher mortality rates for black women compared to white women in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
