The Federal Ministry of Sports Development has confirmed the schedule for the Zonal Eliminations for team sports in preparation for the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), themed "Excellence, Sportsmanship, and Unity."
The eliminations are set to take place from February 23 to February 28, 2025, across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
The announcement follows the Joint Technical Meeting held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on December 18, 2024. As per Rule 13 of the NSF General Rules and Regulations, zonal eliminations are mandatory for all team sports, unless otherwise decided by the Main Organizing Committee (MOC).
The eliminations will be coordinated by the Zonal Coordinators under the guidance of the MOC to ensure adherence to the festival's timeline.

1. Abula
2. Basketball
3. Beach Volleyball
4. Cricket
5. Football
6. Handball
7. Hockey
8. Volleyball (Indoor)
9. Wheelchair Basketball
Qualification Guidelines
The top two teams from each zone will qualify for the National Sports Festival. Additionally, the host state of the festival will automatically qualify for all team sports, ensuring broad representation of athletes at the festival.
The 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival promises to celebrate the spirit of unity, excellence, and sportsmanship among Nigeria's best athletes. Teams and participants are urged to prepare rigorously as the zonal eliminations approach.
