Team Bayelsa has emerged as the champion of the maiden edition of the Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF), winning a total of 86 medals—42 gold, 29 silver, and 15 bronze.
The six-day competition, held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, ran from April 1 to April 8.
Delta finished second, despite winning the highest number of medals (99), which included 41 gold, 26 silver, and 32 bronze.
Edo secured third place with 89 medals: 23 gold, 35 silver, and 31 bronze.
Rivers came fourth with a total of 63 medals—21 gold, 16 silver, and 26 bronze—while Ondo State ranked fifth with 43 medals: 10 gold, 18 silver, and 15 bronze.
The host state, Akwa Ibom, placed sixth with nine gold, 14 silver, and 14 bronze medals, totaling 37.
Abia earned 32 medals: nine gold, 10 silver, and 13 bronze, while Team Imo recorded 42 medals: six gold, 12 silver, and 24 bronze.
Cross River, however, came last with a total of 31 medals: five gold, seven silver, and 19 bronze.
Medals were presented to athletes on Monday night to ensure a seamless closing ceremony on Tuesday.
