The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has volunteered to cover the expenses for 13 football players from Kokona LGA to travel to Accra, Ghana, for football trials.
The Speaker made this announcement while addressing the players of "Team Speaker" in his office in Lafia.

He urged the players to be good ambassadors of the LGA, Nasarawa State, and Nigeria while in Ghana and beyond.
Jatau (APC - Kokona West) explained that the players were selected during the recent unity competition he organized for the youth in the 11 wards of the LGA.
"The selection of these players is a result of the Unity Competition that I organized for the 11 electoral wards of Kokona LGA," he said.
"The reason I organized this competition was, first, to promote unity within our Local Government Area, and secondly, to discover talents among the youth. As you can see, we have uncovered their talents through this competition."
"If I hadn’t organized the competition, we wouldn’t have been able to discover their hidden talents," he added.
The Speaker congratulated the players and wished them well. "I am proud of you; go out and perform to make the state proud," he said.
Jatau assured them of his continued support: "I will continue to support you when the need arises, to help you succeed."
Earlier, Coach Bawa Mohammed, Director of Sports at the ECOWAS Commission, stated that he was in the Speaker’s office to introduce the players ahead of their departure to Ghana on November 16.
"I want to appreciate you for the sponsorship, as I will be taking the 13 players to Ghana for final trials this coming Saturday," he said.
Bawa described the Speaker’s gesture as the first of its kind in the history of Kokona LGA.
